24 Wins Emmys!!!

Wow....... Are you kidding me? Who signed what deal with the devil? When did hell freeze over? And why in the f didn’t anyone tell me?

If you haven’t heard by now, 24 somehow (magically, if you will), scooped up several big time Emmys last night. Specifically, they won:

  1. Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series (Episode 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM)
  2. Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series (Kiefer Sutherland)
  3. Outstanding Drama Series

WHAT!?! There is no way this should’ve happened! Here’s what the Emmy wins mean for each category...

Directing (Drama Series)
According to this win, the director of 24 – Jon Cassar – is better than the directors for Big Love, Lost, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos and The West Wing. That’s THREE HBO shows and two previous network Best Drama winners. And for what... having several of your former stars killed off in one episode? Exciting stuff? Yes... but we don’t give George Lucas Oscars for making fun movies (whenever it was that he did).

Lead Actor (Drama Series)
Kiefer finally got his. After being nominated for several years, he finally comes out on top – fittingly enough, the same year he’s kidnapped and suspected to never return. If only that were the case. But was he better than Denis Leary, Peter Krause and Martin Sheen? Hardly. Anyone can run around for 24 hours, yelling constantly, torturing people and dressing up in “disguise.”

Drama Series
I really thought that only Grey’s Anatomy had a lock on this category. The West Wing was winding down and so was Six Feet Under. The Sopranos is kind of old news and House is just too odd. But for 24 to come out of nowhere to win this... I’m still stunned and it’s 24 hours later... ha! Bad one, I know, but so is the show.

Okay, so I was wrong. Big time. I thought 24 would only walk away with it’s Creative Arts Emmys, I didn’t see that coming at all. I still don’t think this was 24’s best season and now, they’ve upped the ante so much that anything less than a repeat performance could be considered a failure.

My honest opinion was that this year’s Emmy wins were charity sex favors. In all honesty, can everyone agree that 24 won these three categories outright? Not possible. If anything, they were Nader’ed – with votes splitting to other candidates and 24 winding up the beneficiary. Whichever the case, I congratulate the entire 24 team and wish them good luck again next year. Maybe this will inspire them to make a more realistic show. But that’s doubtful.

Okay...do you know WHY you don't have any readers? Because no one with a life would waste their time actually making a blog about how bad a TV show is. GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE.

Greetings "Seth", I happened to stumble across this hideous, disgraceful, unworthy site that you somehow managed to construct with the limited IQ that you possess. First of all I doubt that the Emmy awards were joking when they announced that 24 had indeed won 5 awards (not 3.) In addition to that I do believe that it is possible to win an award without signing a deal with the devil.

Secondly, I would like to point out that within the confines of this post at which I have read (and I must admit that this is the only one that I will read) you have been vastly out numbered in comparison to your "supporters."

Thirdly, I would like to point out that the people who chose 24 obviously knew what they were doing or 24 wouldn't have won as they were each hand chosen by the Emmy cooperation itself.

In conclusion, although I do not think that they will return to this horrendous site I would like to thank the people who have posted on this disgraceful webpage and supported 24.

Peace out,
BAUER(III)

Seth,
Bauer (III) has some very valid points. You should take note of them. I doubt there is a show on the air as amazing as 24. I hope that you come to your senses soon and start watching and enjoying 24 again.
Peace,
DIEHARD24FAN

Well uh...you are entitled to your own opinion but even fans of the show think it deserved the emmy.

You (and this Web site) are an absolute joke! I also stumbled across it trying to get any news on Season 6, and was immediately floored at your stupidity. First, you state that you USED TO BE a fan, but now you devote time and effort to maintaining a Web site devoted to "Why 24 Sucks."
Here's the thing: If you truly think 24 sucks, well then, you're an idiot. The show is about to start its sixth season, and last season hit the 100th episode mark, something that most shows never reach. You say it's poorly acted, poorly written, poorly directed, etc. WHAT?! OK, that's why (as you pointed out) it won five Emmys this year. Who are you anyway, to give such an unpopular opinion? If you have experience in the TV or movie business, you should let them be known, then you might have more credibility when you give such outlandish opinions.
On the other hand, if you are just saying that 24 sucks (to get a rise out of fans of the show) and you don't really believe it, well then you're an idiot. Why would someone waste their time to trash a show (either way.)
By the way, I haven't seen any positive comments about your site. Oh, and I won't be back to this site.

i agree that 24 sucks. its pro-violence bullshit that keeps gun totting americans happy and cozy.

Totally agree with you. This show never grew out of the original real-time gimmick but instead anted up the action so much it makes straigth-to-video action movies look good in terms of writing.

Thank you for this blog though - I made the mistake of purchasing seasons 4 & 5 on dvd (on sale) because i enjoyed the first season so much - and eventually the only thing that got me through those dreadful and mindnumbing seasons was reading your blog to see all the absolutely inane stuff that I might have missed while watching.

When it comes to the Emmys..you can't rate them at all. To me it seems they need to select a different winner every year to keep it interesting even though for example any season of the sopranos should wipe the floor with 24 when it comes to best "drama". Geesh...there is no drama in 24 to begin with. "Best action" maybe if they had that category...
